Traumatic Dislocation of the Knee Joint

Abstract
Traumatic dislocation of the knee is an uncommon but serious injury associated with danger of popliteal artery and peroneal nerve, and extensive ligamentous disruption. Urgen treatment is utmost importance.
There is agreement that in irreducible cases operative reduction is essential, However, there are two views about treatment of damaged ligaments in uncomplicated cases; One that all torn ligaments should be repaired, and the other that conservative treatment gives satisfactory results.
The authors treated three patients of traumatic dislocation of the knee with immediate manipulative reduction and immobilization in a plaster cast under general anesthesia between Jan., 1978 and March, 1981 at the Orthopaedic Department of the Kerea University Hospital.
Among three cases, there was one case of temporary obstruction of popliteal artery and one case of temporary peroneal nerve palsy.
The clinical results were satisfactory in all three cases.
